What's New - Places to Stay
Minutes from Daytona & Orlando
December 10, 2008

As motorcycle enthusiasts head for the annual Biketoberfest® in Daytona Beach, Fla., this fall, riders en route to the event can make the most out of their trip with a stay in Seminole County, an area that combines peaceful nature with modern convenience, as well as an exciting new bike event.
Seminole County is located within a 15-minute drive from its tourist-magnet neighbor, Orlando, and within 30 minutes of Daytona Beach, offering immediate access to both theme parks and the beach. Seminole County also offers the classic Florida experience of peaceful rivers, fishing, boating, hiking all surrounded by untouched natural landscapes and flanked by charming historical villages. Adding to the benefits of combining the events in Daytona Beach with a stay in Seminole County, hotel room prices are often significantly less than in Orlando and Daytona Beach.
Offering a pleasant ride for motorcycle enthusiasts, Seminole County is home to scenic highways perfect for cruising, as well as excellent state and county parks complete with opportunities for hiking and canoeing among cool forests and clear rivers.
New for this year, the City of Sanford is hosting a new event to complete the Biketoberfest® experience. Parallel to the events in Daytona Beach, festivities in Seminole County begin on the evening of Friday, October 21, 2005 and last until Sunday, October 23, 2005. The main event, Thunder in the Streets, will take place on Sanford¹s RiverWalk along Lake Monroe on Saturday, October 22, 2005. Thunder in the Streets will feature national and local music acts on two separate stages. In addition, an excellent selection of food, drinks, art and souvenirs will be available to the audience. More information, and a complete schedule of events and performances, is available at www.sanfordbikefest.com. Free maps with routes for bike tours around Seminole County will be available at the event. Maps can also be ordered in advance at 1-800-800-7832.
